MS Front Page

MS Front PageThe MS Front Page option allows you to install Front Page extensions - which are necessary in order to use Front Page with your site.  You can also verify that they are installed, or remove them if you do not wish to use them anymore.  If you are going to be using Front Page to publish your site always make sure you install the extensions first before doing your initial upload.

Using Front Page

Before you can log on to your site using Front Page, please install Front Page Extensions.  This can be done via the "MS Front Page" panel in the Control Panel.

Once your extensions are installed, open your copy of Front Page.  (File -> Open Web)

Where it asks for a "Folder or Web Name", type in "http://your-domain.com"; or your IP address as provided in your welcome letter. (please remember the http:// part in front!)

Now that you have logged in, you will see an "index.html" page. This is our default "Under Construction" page.  Feel free to delete the page, or edit it to your liking.

Once you are happy with the file, save it, which will instantly publish it to your account.

If you wish to save a copy of your file to your hard disk (recommended), select File -> Publish Web, and choose a location on your hard drive.

To create a new page, select File -> New Page.

To create a hyperlink, you need a pre-existing page.  On a new page, type in some text, highlight it, and select File -> Insert Hyperlink.  Choose the pre-existing file, and you have just created your first hyperlink!

If you require further assistance with Front Page, read the documentation that came with your software. Also, consider using the program's Help Files.
