File Manager

File ManagerThe File Manager offers a quick and easy web based method of accessing your file system. We recommend using an FTP program (or Frontpage if you prefer) for regular updates, but the File Manager can be useful for making small changes.

Once you select the "File Manager" panel, you will be in the root directory of your account. Files placed in your root directory will not show up on the Internet. Note the five folders here, which should never be deleted:

"domain-secure/"
"domain-logs/"
"domain-mail/"
"domain-www/"
"www/"

In order for files to show up on the Internet, they must be placed in your "www/" folder. This is called your web directory.

The File Manager allows you to quickly navigate through your file system by clicking on the appropriate directory. If you click on an editable file (an HTML file, for example), you will be able to edit it directly.

Furthermore, new files can be created, just navigate to the appropriate directory, and enter the new file name in the "Create/ Edit" field.

Another useful feature of the File Manager is the ability to change permissions on files. This can be used to allow CGI scripts to run properly. Please do not change permissions on files unless you are sure of what you are doing.

Note:  The File Manager does not show hidden files (for example, the ".htaccess" file). You may however, edit the file using the "Create / Edit" field.
